Film study: Men talk and women show skin
When it comes to movie roles, women tend to be seen and not heard.
An analysis of the 100 top-grossing movies of 2008 shows that men had 67% of the speaking roles; women had about half that, 33%.
Men also were far more likely to work behind the camera. For every five male directors, writers or producers, there was one female.
At the same time, female characters were more likely to wear...

Teenage girls are the group most at risk of domestic violence, and many may be falling through the support net
Seriously though,

Why are feminists much more willing to accept theories telling them they are oppressed to theories telling them they’re equal? Seriously, they don’t even seem to consider the latter and just say, “NO NO NO, I am an oppressed woman and there’s nothing you can do about it!
Because one is verifiable and the other is a convenient fiction propagated by people scared of change...

We do live in a reality in which people have the viable option to choose to wear makeup - when I posted this, I was angry because I had read a few posts written by feminists (under the feminism tracked tag) that...

"I've Decided there is a "Feminist Privilege""
communismkills:
Women who are offended by cat-calls are privileged because they’re “hot”.
They get male attention that less attractive women don’t.
So they want to ban cat-calls all together.
Yet another person who doesn’t get what privilege means. Are feminists capable of institutionalised oppression? No? Thought so.
Also LOL @ cat calls = compliment. On what fucking planet.

Okay look, I’m damn sick and tired of feminists waging war against makeup. They say it oppresses women, they say it forces them into a societal beauty standard that is impossible to fulfill, they say it makes women feel like their natural beauty isn’t enough.
Bitch, some of us actually need makeup, because there isn’t any natural beauty. Don’t fucking kid yourself....

By After Hours. I’m worried to go have a look at the comments and see the “But!!”s of the fans begin to try and dismantle the valid points they raise about the tokenism issues in the Star Wars theory.
Why are people so unwilling to ever look at something critically instead of through thick fangoggles?
